In the Civil and Environmental Engineering Course, students conduct educational research regarding the development, maintenance and management of social infrastructure while taking the natural and social environment into consideration, and the creation and protection of a safe, secure, comfortable local environment. Students learn about technology to create and protect a safe, secure, comfortable local environment, focusing on structural mechanics, construction materials, soil mechanics, hydraulics and transport system planning.
It is said that civil engineering is “technology that helps mankind using the tremendous power of nature as its source.” Through the construction of public facilities, due to the construction of a safe and comfortable environment, we have contributed to the improvement of mankind’s living environment. However, in order to develop social capital, it is not necessarily acceptable to destroy the abundant natural environment we have now. Using 6 fundamental areas as an educational and research base, students learn how to maintain a social infrastructure that is resilient in natural disasters, comfortable, and sustainable in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Course.
We are cultivating human resources who can take the natural and social environments into consideration while proposing technology regarding the development, maintenance and management of infrastructure, and can disseminate the technology developed both in Japan and overseas.
